Hello, My name is Kuukua Wilson.
I’m a classically trained artist and illustrator with more than 10+ yrs of experience. I received my Master of Scientific Illustration from Maastricht University, The Netherlands, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Painting & Drawing) from Kennesaw State University, USA.
I currently works and lives in the Netherlands.
I was born in Ghana, where I enjoyed a vibrant childhood, then moved to the U.S in my teens, and ultimately now live in the Netherlands. I always try to introduce and incorporate my cross-cultural life-experiences into my works if possible.
Collaboration, Research, and Creative exploration
As a practicing professional illustrator with specialization in Medical and Scientific visualization, I use my professional works to advocate for accessibility in the form of didactic and diverse representation in visualizations.
My professional works are research and technique driven. To achieve the goal of transforming research into visually engaging imagery, I must maintain a collaborative workflow with information authorities and experts: Researchers, Doctors, Practitioners, Engineers, Writers, Journalists, just to name a few. If the end-goal is to reach wider audiences, then the resulting visually must be at the very least, credible.
I have a deep appreciation for being able to expand one’s knowledge through collaboration and research. For the most part, no creative exploration can commence without those two being the preliminary steps. My commitment to all three is the foundation on which my craft solidly stands. I understand that creating a body of work that is both visually-engaging and informative relies heavily on this combination.
For all visualizations, clear and concise storytelling is key. It is important to prioritize accessibility to: science, medicine, and information regarding our collective health.
If you are ready to bring your ideas to life, I’m ready to help
